Company History

Serving New Jersey for 80+ Years
Bohren and Bohren Associates, Inc. has been a part of the Flemington landscape since 1934. Its history is strongly tied to that of its founder, Frank W. Bohren, who established a sole proprietorship in 1934. This was one of the initial engineering service organizations in Hunterdon County.   As a "Jersey Boy", Frank was well positioned to provide these services to Hunterdon and New Jersey. Born, raised, and educated in Raritan Township, in 1931 Frank earned his Civil Engineering degree at Rutgers. As an enterprising young land surveyor and professional engineer, Frank established both his business and his family in Hunterdon County. Frank resided in Lambertville, where he raised his family and participated in numerous community and civic organizations, including the Lambertville Rotary Club, the Flemington Lions Club, and Lambertville Little League Baseball. As Hunterdon County Engineer and later the municipal engineer in 21 of the county's 26 municipalities, Frank worked diligently to bring Hunterdon County "out of the mud" by acquiring funds from the State of New Jersey to improve Hunterdon County's roads. In an effort to address the ever-burgeoning traffic situation in Flemington and Raritan, Frank designed "The Bohren Beltway" concept. The Route 31 by-pass proposed by NJDOT is a similar plan which would alleviate the thru traffic around the congested business corridor along Route 31 in Flemington and Raritan.

Frank Bohren continued to expand his influence by serving in such positions as Hunterdon County Freeholder, the US Army Corps of Engineers (where he attained the rank of Major), and Director of the Hunterdon County National bank. His activities also included a state senate run in 1961.

Over the next 80 years, Frank W. Bohren's engineering company evolved through several name changes and additions of engineering and surveying talent. His son, William U. Bohren II, joined the firm in 1963 as a member of one of the survey crews. In January 1972, he was made president of the firm.

In 2003, William Bohren's daughter, Bridgitt Bohren-Lincoln, joined the company and she was the third generation of the Bohren family to run the firm. In January 2004, Bohren and Bohren Associates, Inc. was officially established as the firm's name.

Today the company is still going strong and celebrating 85+ years in business. Bridgitt served as the president from 2009-2019. The company is currently expertly led by Ryan G. Warford, PLS, President. Any job that comes our way will be done with precision and accuracy.

Our firms professional services will meet or exceed quality standards.
